Crucifix 25 cm Pavona

Hand-decorated ceramic crucifix in traditional Pavona (peahen) style on a blue background.

In the Christian tradition, the peacock symbolizes the perfect, just and holy man who – as Saint Augustine writes in his De Civitate Dei – shines with virtue as the peacock shines with countless sparkles, who puts the devil to flight with prayer as well as song peacock drives snakes to flight. In fact, in the painting of the fifteenth century the angel of the Annunciation is frequently portrayed with “the angelic pen”, or rather with the peacock feather decorated on the wings of the archangel.

Dimension of the crucifix painted in Pavona: 16 x 25 cm, thickness 1 cm.
