Crucifix 20 cm Pavona

Hand-painted ceramic crucifix in Pavona style on a white background with a blue wraparound border.

The Pavona style takes up the colors of the peacock feathers and for this reason it goes well with a sacred object such as the crucifix. In fact, in the Christian tradition the peacock is a symbol of perfection, justice and holiness. In De Civitate Deli Saint Augustine affirms that the peacock shines with innumerable sparkles as the just man shines with virtue, and that the song of the peacock puts snakes to flight as the just man puts the devil to flight with prayer. It is no coincidence that in the painting of the fifteenth century we observe angels of the Annunciation with “the angelic pen”: the peacock feather decorated on the wings of the archangel.

Dimension of the Pavona decorated crucifix: 13 x 20 cm, thickness 1 cm.
